TRUMPF Scientific Lasers

As a leader in innovation and technology, TRUMPF Scientific Lasers focuses on ultrafast lasers demanding simultaneously high average power and high pulse energy.

Exploiting TRUMPF‘s know-how in thin-disk based industrial lasers, we manufacture the next-generation laser sources with superior performance, designed for enhanced reliability and robustness.

Our core product, the Dira series, delivers femtosecond and picosecond pulses with energies ranging from few mJ to above 0.5 J. Combined with our Herz series for nonlinear compression, we can achieve pulse durations below 40 fs and kW of average power.

Dr. Thomas Metzger

Managing Director

Thomas Metzger studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University in Stuttgart, Germany. In the research group of Prof. Ferenc Krausz at the Technical University in Vienna and at the Max-Planck Institute of Quantum Optics in Garching, he developed ultrafast thin-disk amplifiers in close collaboration with TRUMPF Laser. Thomas Metzger has been 2012-2020 CTO and is since 2020 the Managing Director of TRUMPF Scientific Lasers GmbH + Co. KG.

Students

We are looking for committed, motivated and enthusiastic individuals who enjoy technology and are open to challenges.

You will be given the opportunity to access high-level research at the forefront of innovation during a bachelor, master or PhD thesis in the field of laser development.

We offer also practical experience during your studies with internships and student employments in any area of our company.
